When I publish my web stories, it is automatically adding numbers like 1,2 at the end of the permalink..
I have shared my web stories’s page, you can check all the stories there..
    How to solve this??

Check whether you have some draft stories or trashed stories with the same permalink. You cannot use the same permalink twice, otherwise WordPress appends these numbers.

Pascal Birchler, Thank you for your quick support but I when create a new story and add its title and publish it, it automatically adds the number.
For reference kindly see my stories, it is adding number by itself in the all the stories…

I see it, yes. Again, WordPress does this when the permalink slug is already in use.

Or are you saying this even happens when you create a brand new story with some random permalink like “abcdef123456”?

I have not tried the random approach, Pascal..
In the permalink, I see whole my title and a number…
In all the stories this is occurring..
    Now why is that I don’t know…
Suppose,My title is “benefits of web stories” then the permalink which would be generated will be benefits-of-web-stories-6…
Now why 6?? Because my last story had 5 in the permalink…

@yudiestark Hi there, could you confirm if there are any Stories in your Drafts or trashed stories with the same permalink?

    Thread Starter yudiestark

    (@yudiestark)

There are no drafted or trashed stories..
But I did created a random permalink like “abcdef123456” and it was working fine..
But still I am facing issues with my permalinks. For reference you can check my latest story…

@yudiestark I noticed in your sitemap WordPress appended numeric indexes to the end of other permalinks as well and not just these Web Stories. When you create a new post, page, or media file with the same name as a previously existing item, WordPress will add the number to the end of the permalink (URL) to prevent duplication.

Have you tried searching through your site’s pages, posts, custom post types, media library, or trash for any slug duplication?

Can you confirm this happens when you create a brand new story with a unique title and permalink?

I think the “abcdef123456” test above confirms that it works fine in that scenario.

Yes, Pascal Birchler you are right when I tried “abcdef123456” random approach it worked fine…

    @yudiestark Thank you for clarifying.

    1) We can check for a possible plugin conflict if you could please provide your Site Health information privately here?

    2) Additionally, could you please share a screenshot of All Stories > Drafts as well as All Stories > Trash folders (example)? You can use services like JumpShare or Recordit to share.

@yudiestark Checking in here, are you still having trouble?

@yudiestark As we haven’t received a response, I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist. Thank you!
