    Hi,

I have recently set up a new wordpress blog using wordpress 2.2. However, I tried to customize my permalink but it is always not working, it keeps return a 404 error when I choose date, categories name or post name. Only the default is working.

Does anyone has encountered such an error? Can you share with me how to rectify this issue?

I have chmod my .htaccess and I have also added mod_rewrite text into the .htaccess. It is still not working.

I have my blog sitting in a sub-directory.

Thank you. Your help is very much appreciated.

    Sincerely,
    KP

Check the Permalinks page for LOTS of troubleshooting tips. (or use that big search field we have here in the forums)

In particular, confirm with your host that mod_rewrite and AllowOverride are both on and enabled.

    Hi HandySolo,

Thank you for your suggestion. I have looked through the troubleshooting tips but still I cannot find a solution.

I don’t know if my case is a bit special or not. I have a wordpress blog set up on my master domain (www.kpebiz.com), and then, I tried to set another 2 wordpress blogs in another 2 separate folder (www.kpebiz.com/knowhow and http://www.kpebiz.com/blogkpebiz)

I have customized my permalink in all 3 blogs. The permalink on my master domain (www.kpebiz.com) is working fine. I have followed the same method to set up the .htaccess on my another 2 blogs in another 2 sub-folders, but the permalinks on these 2 sub-folder blog are not working. The link keeps jumping back to the master domain.

I don’t know if there is a limitation that I cannot customize my permalink if I have too many wordpress blog set up on the same domain.

I need some help here… Anyone has any good suggestions? You help is very much appreciated.

    Thank you.

    No, there aren’t any limits.

I’d be curious about something though. If you set the root level blog’s permalinks to default, do the two blogs in the sub-domains suddenly start working?

    Hi HandySolo,

I tried that to set the root level blog’s permalinks to default, but the sub-domains permalinks are still not working.

Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

    KP
