• Hello WordPress Forums,
I have recently started wordpress again after a long pause. However, I have forgotten many things.
My problem today is that I seem to be unable to update permalinks correctly. I tried to follow this page instructions’, but it didn’t work. When I tried to go on a page of my website, I would always get a 404, except on the front page.
However, after inspecting, I saw that WordPress was always overwriting the .htaccess file, so AllowOverride couldn’t be put in the file.

    Thank you for your help.

    Regards,
    Sneling

  • Check with your hosts that mod_rewrite is running on your server.

    Esmi,
I have already checked in a info.php file that I created on my server, and it stated that mod_rewrite was loaded for apache2handler.

    Could it be something else?

    Hello again,
I tried a few different ways with htaccess and plugins, but still couldn’t get it working. Any way to make this work?

    Regards.

    Hello everyone,
After a few days of looking around, I found this thread, which didn’t really solve my issue, as I host my website on my own VPS. I added the <Directory> code to my .htaccess in my wp root folder, without success, even after a service restart and a reboot.
Does anyone have any more help on this?

    Regards.
