• Hi,

I tried to change the way my permalinks look like in the options.
It was a terrible mistake, and I wish there had been a warning message from WP before confirming the change…

I couldn’t access my blog or the admin site anymore.
I deleted the .htaccess file and replaced it with a blank one and got access to my admin restored.

But now my posts only show in the welcome/main page of my blog and not when I click on theur titles. And when I try to go in the permalinks options to restore it to default, I get an error 500 again and then both the blog and the admin panel are broken again. So WP doesn’t save/restore the default settings.

I know my host doesn’t support mod_rewrite, which is probably why it got all messed up at first.

How can I restore the default settings as before?

    Thank you very much.

You don’t need any htaccess file for the default permalinks. Delete it.

    Hi Moshu.
    Thank you for your hint.
I tried to delete the htaccess and switch to the default permalink again. And this time no blamk page and then broken WD, but instead I got a message saying the change was successfuly made, but with an error, as follow:

Warning: file(/mnt/137/sdb/a/5/ayor/wordpress/.htaccess) [function.file]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /mnt/137/sdb/a/5/ayor/wordpress/wp-admin/includes/misc.php on line 52

Warning: implode() [function.implode]: Bad arguments. in /mnt/137/sdb/a/5/ayor/wordpress/wp-admin/includes/misc.php on line 52

But the posts are viewable again, and not only on the main page!

So if there is still something wrong that you can read from that error message, just let me know!

    Thank you
