Permalinks stored where ?

    Using default permalink structure where are the permalinks actually stored/created or whatever ?

    Id no. are stored in database

    They are not stored any where they are rewritten on server using .htacces file and mod_rewrite module in Apache.

    There are no entries in my .htaccess file. This a custom post type if that matters. But the permalink is different from the GUID for whatever reason.

    You will only have the rewrite code in .htaccess if you using other then default
