Permalinks Suddenly Broken

    Okay, so apparently my WP permalinks decided to randomly cut out on me.

    I didn’t notice until today, but they’ve been broken since Saturday. I have the “Custom” option selected, and my permalinks currently are:

    /%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/

    They were working fine, and then all of a sudden something weird happened. I tried rebuilding the structure, and it didn’t help. I tried changing the permalink structure, and all of the “default” structures worked fine! Then, I changed back to the custom ones and I’m getting a 404.

    I tried restoring from an old backup, but it didn’t help. All of my posts, RSS feeds, etc. are still broken.

    2 places to check:

    1. Can you access/edit your .htaccess file by hand? It should be writable using your ftp program.

    2. Is your theme “K2 Beta Two 0.95 RC1” the latest/fixed/WP2.1 compatible?

    Yep, I’ve tried both of those. I re-chmodded the files, and nothing happened. I then deleted and re-uploaded them, but WP isn’t recognizing them.

    I don’t think k2 has anything to do with it…I haven’t updated the theme since January and the permalinks have only been broken since Saturday.

    It’s probably the webserver that isn’t recognising the .htaccess files. Better contact your host.

    I submitted a support ticket, but I really think that the problem is with WP. The server is still recognizing my .htaccess 404 redirect pages.

    Could somebody post what SHOULD be in .htaccess, so I can make sure that there’s not a syntax error or something?
