When I try to change the permission settings for a role it says it saves the changes but it does not. I cannot remove the permission for another role.

I am also using the Advanced Access Manager plugin if that makes a difference.

I figured out a way to do it via the AAM capabilities screen.
I did deactivate the AAM plugin and still could not change it from the Duplicate Posts permission tab. Maybe another plugin is causing it.

    Hi @jimk1416

Could you please check and confirm if you are using the latest version of WordPress 5.7.2, Yoast Duplicate Post 4.1.2, and the latest version of your other plugins and themes?

When you say you are trying to change the permission settings, do you mean the ‘Roles allowed to copy’ or the ‘enable for these posts types’ section under Settings > Duplicate Post > Permissions tab?

Are you trying to tick or untick an option (e.g. roles allowed to copy – author) but it does not reflect the changes, even after clicking on the ‘save changes’ button?

Often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict, is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty.

Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts

With a site on WP 5.7.2, a default WP theme such as TwentyTwenty, and only Yoast Duplicate Post as the plugin enabled, are you able to save the changes? We’d like to rule out if there is another plugin or theme conflict that is causing this.

On the Permissions tab I uncheck a role and click save.
It says setting saved and lands on What to copy tab.
I go back to the Permissions tab and the role I just unchecked is still checked.
It must be a conflict on this installation I use the plugin on other websites and it works fine there.
This is currently a staging site. I will try disabling more plugins and try to figure it out.

    Hi @jimk1416

We tried it on a test site with WordPress 5.7.2, WP TwentyTwenty theme, and Yoast Duplicate Post 4.1.2 as the only plugin enabled. We then unticked one of the roles in the ‘roles allowed to copy’ in the Permissions tab and saved the changes. It reloaded the ‘what to copy’ tab and when we went on the Permissions tab again, the changes were saved correctly.

It’s possible that there is indeed a conflict with one of the other plugins and themes on your staging site, so you can refer to our guide here for more information on how to do a conflict check – https://yoast.com/help/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts/

    Hope this helps!

Thanks. Finishing the migration this week so I can do further testing after that.

    Hi,

Thanks for reporting back to us. Please let us know if you still continue to encounter any permission issues with the Yoast Duplicate Post plugin after performing a conflict check.

    Hey Michael,
I did some testing and it turns out the conflict was with the Under Construction PRO plugin. I was able to deactivate the plugin, untick the setting to allow the editor permission to copy and it saved the setting. Then I simply reactivated the PRO plugin. So that works if you know what to disable.

The Under Construction free version did not have an issue so its just the PRO.

    Hope that helps.
