I have been using this plugin for years with no problem. Suddenly we started getting the error [file] can not be deleted by the web server, most likely because the permissions on the file are wrong. This comes up any time we try to replace a file but keep existing name. The file permissions on the server ARE NOT wrong. We have tried to reset the permissions on the folder, uninstalling and reinstalling the plug-in and rebooting the server all with no luck. Any idea on why this suddenly started happening? And how to go about fixing it?

Please note that “permissions” (write, read, execute) and “ownership” are different things. You may have the right permissions but the wrong owner for the files.
This usually happens when you change your hosting provider.
You may want to read here for more about this.

I would appreciate your follow-up on this,
    Alex
