@thelazyslowcooker Thanks for reporting. Did you encounter this issue before updating to the latest version of Site Kit? If so we’ve make some improvements to the plugin and suggest users update to version 1.8.1 of the plugin.
As it looks like you’ve already updated please let me know whether the issue persists and we can troubleshoot further.
If I am remembering correctly, before the update, the search console wasn’t working correctly. It kept saying “search console gathering data”. But I believe the Permission Issue Accessing Data message didn’t appear until after the update.
Thank you!
@thelazyslowcooker Thanks for the update. If the issue persists at present can you share your Site Health information and we can perform some troubleshoot steps?

As your Search Console property references your http website and you’re site is fully https can you attempt the steps below in order to get connected?
1. Temporarily deactivate Really Simple SSL
2. Navigate to Settings > General and manually update your WordPress Address and Site Address to https:// (if already set switch to http:// then back to https:// again
3. Logout of your WordPress admin dashboard
4. Reactivate Really Simple SSL
5. Proceed with the Site Kit setup processLet me know if the above works for you.
Hi again,
I tried the above suggestions and it didn’t seem to work. I am getting a different message now, though. It reads:
User does not have sufficient permissions of the site http://thelazayslowcooker.com/.
Why would that even matter if I am using https??
Any other ideas? I am thinking of just removing site kit since I don’t really need it. I can check all the data elsewhere.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!@thelazyslowcooker Thanks for providing an update. It’s possible there may be issues with permissions between http and https in Search Console, in particular if you’re using a URL type property and you have different WordPress administrators logging into your site, with each administrator requiring access to that property in order to view the dashboards.
Can you follow open this link and check that the associated Google account from which you setup Site Kit has permissions for your site? Once you confirm you have access please share your Site Health information once more and we can check your connection status from our side.
hello @jamesosborne,
I’m having a similar issue and have similar issues, as I am using a google admin and site admin information. I have deactivated cache plugins and even tried to do it in an incognito window. the message is related to my server but I run…“Forbidden

}Hi @jamesosborne
I am the only administrator for this site, so that can’t be the issue. I followed the link you provided and as far as I can tell, the Google has full permission to use this site. Keep in mind that site kit was working perfectly when it was first installed. It started showing errors about 6 weeks ago out of the blue. Here is the site health info requested:

@thelazyslowcooker Many thanks for providing the additional information. We’ll check your site setup with the team and report back to you here as soon as we have an update.
@thelazyslowcooker much thanks for the feedback thus far. While we don’t see anything abnormal on the Site Kit service, your case sounds very similar to this user’s topic where both both Jetpack and Really Simple SSL were being used.
We’re not sure the root cause, but let’s check this:
1) In the source code of your site I see there are two verification tags (
google-site-verification) that are not placed by Site Kit.One looks to be from Jetpack and the other possibly from Yoast.
2) To confirm what was used to verify the
https://version of the site and thehttp://version of the site:— Could you go to your Search Console account
— Go to the
https://site (property), and under Settings > Ownership verification let us know which methods were used to verify the site. For example this is a view from one of my sites: https://jmp.sh/aS6B0SS— Go to the
http://site (property) and do the same. This will let us know which verification method is being used so we can troubleshot further.
Permissions issue accessing data
This account does not have access to the requested data.this is my error, can anyone please guide me??
@thelazyslowcooker Many thanks for your patience on this, we’ve made some changes which will hopefully allow you to continue with Site Kit setup. Feel free to attempt setup once more and let us know should you encounter any issues.
