Persistent 500 error- no access to wp-admin page

    When I try to access my dashboard using my domain address with /wp-admin, I get a 500 Internal Error message and no login page. The site has worked flawlessly for years and I haven’t made any changes in several months.

    I was able to access my cPanel at GoDaddy.

    I’ve tried:

    I renamed Plugin directory to disable them all. Did not fix problem.

    I uploaded the new version of the wp-admn and wp-includes directories. This caused my site to crash, so I restored the old versions. It was the includes directory that caused the crash, but it is back up now.

    I increased the php memory. Did not fix the problem.

    I renamed the active theme believing it would default to another theme. This caused the website to crash, so I restored the active theme (Origami).

    I renamed the .htaccess file to disable it. Did not fix the problem.

    I spoke with tech support at GoDaddy and they ran tests and it was all good on their end.

    Are there any other possibilities?

    another theme?

    Make sure this another theme is one of the WP default themes (e.g., Twenty Twenty, etc.). See if that works.

    I renamed Origami to Origami_old. I had a number of other theme folders in the wp-content folder that I renamed also, so they were not available. The only other theme left in the folder is TwentyTwenty. This should make the website load the TwentyTwenty as the default, correct? When I did this and went to my site, it was blank. Would not load and I could not access my login site. Perhaps this is a clue?

    Since the problem can be caused by any number of things, check the error logs on your server for a more specific error message. If you need help locating them, ask your hosting provider to help you with that.

    If you cannot find error logs or if you don’t find any helpful info in them, try Enabling debugging
