A visitor comes to my site by referral from an affiliate (for example, ?Affiliate=3). When it clicks on a link from another page (for example, a contact form), the “? Affiliate=3” tag is lost and I can not register the referral.

Is there any way to make the affiliate tag be PERSISTENT while the visitor is on the site?

    Thank you!!

  • Hi herondino,

FYI, the affiliate id is persistent since it is stored in a cookie. The cookie duration depends on your timeout setting in Affiliates > Settings, under Referrals tab. Even if the affiliate parameter doesn’t appear anymore in the URL, as long as the cookie is stored, a referral can be recorded for that affiliate.
If the visitor clicks on another affiliate link, then obviously the referring affiliate will change.

You should also have a look at Affiliates Permanent premium addon, which will assign a user to an affiliate for a lifetime once a referral is recorded for the first time. In this case, no matter which affiliate refers, the referral will be recorded for the permanent affiliate.

Furthermore, if the visitor is referred but no referral is recorded for an action completed, ie a form submission, then you should check if the form plugin is supported by Affiliates plugin. The list of supported integrations can be found here.

    Kind regards,
    George
