I received a comment but there is no ‘post’ related to the comment. Where the title usually displays it says “Blog” and when I click it, there is a blank post. I think the comment refers to my last blog post but not sure. I did a dummy ‘test’ comment and that showed up as normal on the correct page. This is weird. Any ideas?

  • Do you have a page named blog?

Thanks for your quick reply. I didn’t create a post named “Blog” but the comment is in a post named “Blog’ if that makes sense. And it’s blank

Right, pages can have comments too. Do you have a page under Pages that is named blog. If so, I am suggesting that the comment attached to the page.

    Hi Davood,

Yes, my blog is called BLOG and it’s a page I guess. Still not sure how that comment attached itself to the page rather than the post as she was referring to the post. Any clues, then I’ll mark it solved. Thanks.

I just went back to look at “COMMENTS” – it says “View Page’ not “view Post” as all the other comments do???

Ah, okay. So some bots are still able to post comments to pages and posts even if you have comments turned off for that page or post.

I’d suggest setting up a spam detection plugin on your site. There are many. My favorites are Akismet (which is installed by default when setting up WP) and
    Anti-Spam by CleanTalk.

If this answers your question and you have no further questions on this topic please tag the thread as resolved.

I do have Spam detection. This was a genuine comment. I just found the area to uncheck ‘comments’ so hopefully, that will stop it in future. Thanks so much for your help.

Ah, okay. You can use this plugin to disable comments on any post type within your site. Pages are a post type.

    Hope this helps.

Your edited comment crossed with my post.
That is certainly one way as well. The plugin is a nice failsafe in case you forget to uncheck in on new pages it will also make it so you don’t have to go into every single page you have on bigger sites and uncheck that box.
