Hi, my website is http://www.montemuse.com – using 20-11 theme.
I have just created this website with about 10 pages (all set to private). When I view them I see the url is www/montemuse.com/pagename which is fine as that’s how I set permalinks.

BUT – when I view any of the pages I created and click on the header image it goes to a page with url “www.montemuse.com/” (ie. with no page name suffix). This page is blank with the usual apology message.

I don’t understand where this page is coming from as it does not appear in the ALL PAGES LIST. How do I get rid of it?

All the other pages are listed as menu items on the header which is what I want. These pages all show their url correctly with the pagename suffix after the website name. Clicking any of these menus goes to the correct page. But clicking the image in the header goes to the empty phantom page which I can’t edit or delete.

Desperate for help as been trying to fix this myself for 4 hours.
    Thanks

  • It looks like the home page is set to display the POSTS in your site. Since you haven’t made any posts (only pages), it will show that error message.

What do you WANT it to show on that home page?

Alternatively, how can I disable the feature which enables a click on the header image to go to the phantom page?

I’m relatively new to this stuff so sorry if this is a basic question. How do I set the home page to be a particular page. The one I want is a page with title Montemuse. Btw thanks for fast response – appreciated.

Any chance of an update on this? Thanks

To set a particular page as your home page, go to Settings – Reading. Then under Front page displays, select “A static page (select below)” and set the Front Page to the page you want (I believe you can set the Posts Page to anything you like). That will then be your home page.
