  • Hi there antoniocarloslima,

Thanks for stopping by the support forum, I’m happy to help with that phone field.

After taking a look at the form located on that page, it looks like the phone field is set as required. In order to hide that field on the plugin form, the first thing to do is to go into the MailChimp account to the corresponding list, and on that list’s Settings >> List fields and *|MERGE|* tags page, uncheck the box in the “Required?” column for the phone field.

Once that field is no longer set as required, the list will need to be updated in the plugin. On the MailChimp List Setup page in WordPress, selecting the list from the drop-down and hitting “Update List” will update the new field settings from MailChimp

Once a field is no longer set as required on the MailChimp side and the list is refreshed in the plugin, take a look at the “Merge Variables Included” section of the List Setup page – there will be a N in the “Required?” column and a check box in the “Included?” column. Deselecting the “Included?” check box and clicking the “Update Subscribe Form Settings” button will remove that field from the form on the page.

Thanks for posting. Have a great day!

Sorry, but it was confusing to me. You could do this for me? Can I send the data via email.

    Hey antoniocarloslima,

Thanks for posting again. I’ll be happy to clarify a bit more on changing those fields. If you can reply back with which step of the process is unclear, I’ll be happy to provide some additional detail to help out. We look forward to hearing back!

How can I send you a picture of the form settings? The “phone” option lets not be cleared.

    Hey antoniocarloslima,

You can send that screenshot along to us at [email protected]. When you send it, also include the list name and the username used to log into the account, and then reply back here to let us know it’s been sent. We can then check there and take a closer look.

We look forward to hearing back from you!

    Hi antoniocarloslima,

We got the email you sent over to us. In the screenshot you sent, you can see a Y in the “Required?” column for the “phone” field. In order to hide the “phone” field in your WordPress form, you will need to log into MailChimp first. In MailChimp, you will need to change that form field to not be required.

While logged into the MailChimp account, go to Lists >> the list connected to WordPress >> Settings >> List fields and *|MERGE|* tags. Uncheck the box for the phone field in the “Required?” column there.

Once the field is not required in MailChimp, you can select “Update List” in WordPress. Once updated, the “phone” field will have a N in the required column and you will be able to uncheck it the “Included?” column.

Please let me know if you get stuck on any of these steps. Have a good day!

Please, I do not know how to do this. Could you help me? I can not do this. I sent email to you on October 8th and then on the 10th of October. Could you check, please?

I keep waiting for a response, Kath. I sent an email to you a few days ago. Could you help me?

    Hi there antoniocarloslima,

We WordPress Chimps aren’t able to respond to emails directly. The wordpressATmailchimp.com email address is reserved for when our specialists request sensitive information, but all solutions and responses from the team will be provided through the forum in order to provide public and ongoing information to the WordPress community.

Have you been able to get logged in to your MailChimp account and locate the area to make the changes I suggested in my previous responses? I’m happy to help get you going in the right direction however I won’t be able to make changes in either the MailChimp account or the plugin on your behalf.

Please post a reply here to let me know specifically where you’re running into an issue so I can help walk you through.

I could not make the changes you advised. So, I sent by email my password (that is confidential, then it can be sent by e-mail, yes?) So you can access and see what can be done there. Could you please check this for me? The email was sent on October 8.

    Hi antoniocarloslima,

I can see in the MailChimp account that the phone field is no longer required, so in order to have it no longer be required on your WordPress site you would need to Update List in the plugin settings (screenshot: http://eepurl.com/5JVdb).

Once the updated list fields are pulled from MailChimp, you will be able to uncheck the Required? box for the phone field, and click “Update Subscribe Form Settings” to apply changes.

As for the password you shared via email, at MailChimp, we take security pretty seriously. Keep in mind that if your personal email account were to become compromised, that would also put your MailChimp account data at risk of being compromised or used for malicious purposes. MailChimp support will never ask for your password via this forum or email nor do we have access to view that information. I strongly recommend changing that password as soon as possible to keep your account safe.

Let us know if you need additional assistance.
