PhotonWP Theme – Wont Install

    I just purchased a theme called PhotonWP from ThemeForest. When I went to install the theme I get the following warnings:

    Warning: fopen(/home1/hollrahs/public_html/wp-content/themes/photonwp-the-ultimate-photography-showcase-theme/style.css) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home1/hollrahs/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4165

    Warning: fread(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home1/hollrahs/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4168

    Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home1/hollrahs/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4171

    Also, on the Themes page it says that the stylesheet is missing.

    Do I need to tweak some of my WP settings or is there something wrong with the theme itself?

    Have you checked the folder you uploaded and made sure the stylesheet is actually in the folder?

    Also, are you sure you followed the instructions for installation correctly?

    And, one last thing – are you sure the theme you downloaded is compatible with your version of WP? It seems it’s trying to call functions out of the included WP functions file, that aren’t in your installation, so maybe it’s an older theme, or your version of WP needs to be upgraded.

    Theme Forest allows you to contact the theme maker when issues occur. Most theme authors (like me!) are usually pretty good about getting back to the user when errors occur.

    Will double check the install but I am almost certain the instructions were for a standard installation. As for version, I am on 3.0.1. The theme is supposed to work with 3.0, I assume it can handle the .1 version as well.

    I submitted a request for assistance to Theme Forest but haven’t heard back yet. Any other tips for reaching the developer directly?

    Hmm, not entirely sure, I wouldn’t assume too many differences in a 3.0.1 version vs the 3.0… Try looking at the theme author’s profile page on Theme Forest sometimes they have info to social networking sites (twitter, facebook, etc) you may be able to get in touch faster there?

    You got tripped up by a very common and understandable mistake – you uploaded the zip file you downloaded from Theme Forest. You need to unzip the downloaded file on your desktop – then drill down to:

    Download File > WordPress Files > photonWP.zip

    Upload that zip file to your themes directory and you should be all set.
