    Hello,

I am planning to upgrade my WordPress server environment to PHP 8.5 and would like to confirm compatibility before proceeding.

Could you please let me know whether your plugin is fully compatible with PHP 8.5?

Specifically, I would like to ask:

    • Are there any known issues, warnings, or deprecated function errors when running the plugin on PHP 8.5?
    • Is PHP 8.5 officially supported, or is support planned in the near future?
    • Would you recommend staying on PHP 8.4 for now, or is PHP 8.5 safe to use with this plugin?

My goal is to ensure a stable and production-ready setup before upgrading.

Thank you in advance for your support.

    Best regards

  • Hello,

Thank you for your detailed question.

At the moment, I can’t say for certain that the plugin is fully compatible with PHP 8.5.
However, Contact Form 7 v6.1.4 has been tested with WordPress 6.9, as noted in the official readme:

    https://github.com/rocklobster-in/contact-form-7/blob/v6.1.4/readme.txt#L5

Because of this, I would recommend first checking which PHP versions are officially supported by WordPress 6.9 itself. That information will give you a more reliable baseline for a stable production environment.

Currently, PHP 8.5 is considered “beta support” on the WordPress side, which means it’s reasonable to assume that full compatibility is not guaranteed yet:

    https://make.ww.wp.xz.cn/core/2025/11/21/php-8-5-support-in-wordpress-6-9/

For production use, staying on PHP 8.3 is likely the safer choice for now.

That said, if you do test PHP 8.5 and encounter any issues, warnings, or deprecated notices, reporting them would be extremely valuable to the community. The plugin is developed primarily by a single maintainer, who is understandably very busy, so user feedback plays an important role in improving compatibility over time.

I hope this helps you make an informed decision, and I wish you the best of luck with your business and server upgrade.

    Best regards,
