Nextgen has been working fine for a year now, we’ve done the usual updates and no problems. But today we went in and tried to upload new photos and suddenly received this error:

An unexpected error occured. This is most likely due to a server misconfiguration. Check your PHP error log or ask your hosting provider for assistance.

I’ve seen other threads that say the solution is to go back to 1.9.13, which I’d rather not do. I also saw that it may have been a file size issue, but that is not the case. Permissions are all set at 755 and I resaved the permalinks. We have PHP 5.4 running on our server which should be fine. Is there any other solutions that anyone has come across?

@2headedboy2 – Although generally an issue with permissions, if you have not changed the gallery folder locations then it could possibly be another active plugin creating a conflict … have you checked for that?

Yes, I’ve turned off all other plugins and still had the same result. I haven’t changed the gallery locations either. I’m trying everything over here and it’s really frustrating because I love the Nextgen interface and would hate to convert to a new system.

@2headedboy2 – Please send us a Bug Report (http://nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/ … please reference this topic) so we can get a better look under the page at your site.

We may need temporary log in (and FTP) credentials for your WordPress installation, please consider those for your Bug Report, too.

    Thanks!

Thank you for solving this. In case someone experiences the same problem, an ‘index.html’ file serving as a parked page amongst root wordpress files caused the confliction. Renaming it fixed the problem.
