With a completely updated site (WP 5.4) and any version of PHP that Dreamhost offers (7.2, 7.3 or 7.4) I get the following error when trying to add posts or pages.

    Error thrown
Cannot use string offset as an array

Disabling your plugin allows the site to operate normally.

  • Hello @pksublime,

We would like to know if the problem is visible only with NextGEN Gallery Active.
Let’s check if it is an existing conflict:
    – Temporarily deactivate all your plugins except NextGen Gallery.
    – Is the problem solved? Then, it was caused by one of your plugins. Please check one by one and find the one causing the problem.
    – If the problem is not solved with the deactivation of the plugins, try changing to a standard WordPress theme, it could be a conflict with your current theme.

    You can also try to
1- Re-install the plugin and check if that fixes the problem.
2- Enable WordPress debug mode and check the debug.log file for more information on the problem https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/

Please, keep us posted. We are happy to help.

It was an interaction with a plugin called podPress – deleted that plugin and the site is working.

    Thanks

We are glad to hear you found the cause.

    You are very welcome.
