• Hi folks, I downloaded the 2.7 version, read the directions. I clicked on install.php file and a window came up asking me what program to open the install.php file. Being unfamiliar with php, I really don’t what or even if I have a program on my system to install php. I am running windows vista. Has anyone run into this problem before? Thanks.

  • sounds like you downloaded wordpress, and are trying to install it to your pc like its going to show up in your startmenu.

wrong way. wordpress isnt that kind of application.

    Hi

I also seem to have the same issue. I am totally new to this. When I go to the browser where my blog is installed, which was done with Fantastico. All usernames passwords etc are in place, but i just get the directory listing of the blog with all the wordpress files. When I select one it asks if I should open or save the file? I can’t get into the dashboard of wordpress?

sounds like index.php isn’t enabled for directories
ask your host to fix this
or add this to your .htaccess
    DirectoryIndex index.php index.html
