PHP UGRADE-WordPress requests but doesn’t recognize
-
I have GoDaddy, Windows hosting with cpanel, for my WP site, I am having issues and the error message that I need to upgrade my PHP, I have updated the PHP to 8.0 at Godaddy via the cpanel, however, WP still has the msg that I am using outdated PHP version 7.0.33
All plugins and wordpress have been updated, I have performed all the troubleshooting suggestions, turning off all plugins, checking compatibility, etc.
How do I correct this?

Check your .htaccess file. I believe GD uses it to set which version of PHP you use. If it’s not clear there, contact GD support because the choice of PHP is not internal to WP.
Thanks for the reply.
I have looked at that file, I will try again, maybe I can figure it out.GD support is so useless, they just want me to pay a couple of hundred dollars for premium support. I am certain it is “their” error, this happened last PHP update and I did actually get a support person, after many hours on the phone to fix it. I refuse to pay, I may move my website to another host rather than give them another dime for terrible service and tech support that knows less than I do. Sorry for the rant.
From the file manager in the hosting control panel, navigate to that directory. Look at the ownership and permissions of the files. Do they match the directory above and above that?
Thanks, so GD tech renamed my htaccess files, i had an old one that was my backup, they renamed it also, i have no working htaccess file.
I never get anywhere, w Godaddy, now my site is 404 on every page except the index. Told me they were fixing the PHP and it would be corrected in a few hours.
I renamed my most recent working .htaccess to enable it again, at least the 404 errors are gone? Why would they do that to me?

Replace the missing file with the basic .htaccess contents: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/article/htaccess/#basic-wp
Thank you, I just had re-enabled the previous file, would I benefit from creating this new file?
IF the site is working with the previous file, stick with that.
Ok thank you, I would not have even found that if you hadn’t sent me.
Not sure what you were asking me to look for in the files?
Do I need to view the files to see the permissions?I’m lost. Is your site working?
Sorry, Yes, site is up, when i renamed the .htaccess the pages now show up.
I still have not been able to upgrade the PHP, I’m pretty sure its a GoDaddy issue.
there is no php handler in my .htaccess
I get hosting time out errors when i attempt to edit pages on my site also.
This is def a hosting issue, not sure if this is related to the PHP issue, but the PHP issue remains.Keep poking at GD support! π
I guess that is where i am, I just get really frustrated when they ask me to pay for premium support, when this is clearly a GoDaddy (server side) issue, I have tried everything on my side possible. I won’t pay, I’m looking for a new host. Thank you!!
We have some recs: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/hosting/
Thanks, I very likely to change hosting, Godaddy is definitely some kind of racket.
The tech support keeps telling me its something on my end, user error and I can pay them to fix my site. Then today, they do some sort of upgrade on my site and now, site is down again. 403 errorsStill no php upgrade for my site.
20 minutes later…..So, I call again, the “upgrade” I discovered (I went and looked) was the PHP i’ve been asking for for 3 weeks. They had to supposedly fix some file…I asked and got a very vague answer.
They only updated it to PHP7.4 even though they kept telling me it was 8.0 so, whatever….I don’t know how they stay in business.
