Hi there,
Thanks for getting in touch. Sorry to hear you’ve been having trouble.
So you’re getting this error because the version of PHP installed on your web server is incompatible with BackUpWordPress.
BackUpWordPress requires PHP version 5.3.2 or higher, so you’ll need to contact your host and ask to be upgraded to PHP 5.3.2 or later.
Let me know how you get on,
Cheers!
Owain
Thanks for the quick reply.
But tell me why your plugin Completely disables the entire site.

Hi there,
I’m not exactly what the issue there could be, we’ll look trying to reproduce the issue.
In the mean time to regain access you’ll either need to update PHP as soon as possible, or you’ll have to FTP into your site and delete the plugin that way.
Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you.
Cheers,
Owain
I did a quick update update to 5.4, and while I was at it, updated wordpress.
All is well.
Still not sure why your plugin completely disabled the site.
Thanks again for the very quick reply.
Lee
Hi Lee,
I was unable to reproduce the issue.
Did you update the plugin from the WordPress Admin? Or from a management service?
Cheers,
Owain
From within the wordpress admin of the site.
BackUpWordPress will not work on this site. ( PHP Version 5.2.17 is unsupported )
Now I can’t login to my WP admin. How do I fix this?
Hi Davis,
You’ll need to FTP into your site and delete the BackUpWordPress folder.
Alternatively you can contact your host and ask them to upgrade your version of PHP to 5.3.2 which will also resolve the issue.
Sorry for the inconvenience, please email [email protected] if you have any questions or require further assistance.
Cheers,
Owain
Same issue…Broke every site I run and I really liked your plugin and my hosts are not going to bump up to 5.3.2 just because I ask them to (I tried). I have 6 sites on iPage.com and I can not use your plugin anymore…such a shame.
Hi Mike,
Time for a new host then 🙂
Sorry to hear that though, and I am sorry for the inconvenience.
Cheers!
Owain
Hi, Mike
I would get another host, as PHP 5.2 and PHP 5.3 has reached end of life, as recommended by PHP developers, you are strongly urged to upgrade to a current version, as using older versions may expose you to security vulnerabilities and bugs that have been fixed in more recent versions of PHP.
I use PHP 5.4 as a minimum and even that has an EOL of 20 June 2015, 2 days from now.
Kind regards
Gareth
Hi have the same problem with PHP7 activated…
Regards.
Jean
Hey momo-fr – could you open a new ticket? I want to put that into GitHub since I’m pretty sure the developers want to extend functionality to PHP7 as soon as they are able to do so. Thanks!
Kat
Hi, the problem is resolved, I make some updates yesterday and modified my PHP configuration… it’s work fine now with PHP7.
Regards.
Jean
Thanks for the update – our developers have tested it and found it to be working in the PHP7 environment so we definitely want to know if there’s an issue there 😉
Take care and Happy Holidays to all!
Please start a new ticket if you are reading this and need help! 😀
