Hi, Many of established picasaweb album/photo links have recently been broken (see circle with minus sign staring at me instead of the photos). There are too many to reestablish and edit posts referring to them already. I read on the net that many are having the same issue. When I try to refreh the album, I get a 404 error. Is this fixable?

Sorry for the late reply. Can you give me a URL that is giving you a 404 error so I can check?

Sorry, my question wasn’t clear – I meant please give me the URL you are entering into the form on the Shashin tools page (i.e. the URL to view the albums on Picasa or Google Plus).

I am unable to get the URL that was previously used to add the album as it is not available/accessible anywhere. However, adding an album via new link that conforms to the url requirements, works okay. So, it is only an issue with some albums already added.

I recall changing album permissions sometime in the past from Public to ‘Limited, anyone with link’ – maybe this is the reason?

In any case, I re-added an album and Shashin retained the Photo IDs – which is great as I don’t have to readd each and every photo link to my old posts. So what I have to do is just re-add the albums, though I have about 15-20 of them broken.

Thanks for explaining. I haven’t tested the scenario you’re describing, but the behavior makes sense to me. If you change the permissions on an album to ‘Limited, anyone with link’ then an “authkey” is needed in the URL to access the album’s data feed, and Shashin doesn’t have the authkey, so you get the “album not found” error. But if you then add the album again, like you did, Shashin will recognize you’re adding an album it already knows about (so the photo IDs don’t change) and it will add the album’s authkey. So, yes, you’ll need to re-add each album that had its permissions changed,.
