Hi there! Do you mean you want to add the grid of five featured posts at the top of the site like on the demo? If so, here’s how:
Under Appearance > Customize > Featured Content add a tag in the box, like featured, and save.
Then tag up to five posts with the same tag you just put in the box then publish, and they will show in the featured area at the top of the page.
This setup process is explained in the “Featured Content and Featured Images” section on this page: https://wordpress.com/themes/canard/.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Just wanted to pop in and mention that you’ll need to have the Jetpack plugin active in order to use Featured Content on a self-hosted site. Once it’s active you can follow Sarah’s guide above.
hi sarah,
thx for your answer – i´m sorry but i did not understand what i have to do
i have jetpack installed and activate it
i have no idea to activate featured images – is that an other plugin?
i have no change to activate featured images – even in top right side – no possibility to activate it
@sarah – you wrote
Under Appearance > Customize > Featured Content
i did not have featured content under customize
now i found it – but i have no change to edit like the example
now the i.e. two posts are on my frontpage among themselves with pics but like the example
ah – now it works – one last question – is it possible that sidebar could be disable – i take all the widgets away like last posts archive etc. but the frame is still there

Please provide a link to an example page so we can take a look and help you with the necessary custom CSS.
