• Hi guys, im trying to get over an issue that im told by my designer isnt possible.
Basically, when i upload a picture to a gallery size thumbnail, the image isnt complete in the thumbnail in the gallery i.e the thumbnail is only a portion of the picture. I have resized the images i am uploading to be sensible 800 x 600 pixels for expansion in the lightbox) and when i upload id like my gallery to show a full representation of the image although made smaller than the lightbox image.Hope that makes sense…

Can anybody help me or point me somewhere i can get help…?The galleries all look odd with pictures of people with no head etc until you enlarge by clicking..!!
    Thanks in advance
    Dom

    Try this:
Uncheck the checkbox “Crop thumbnail to exact dimensions (normally thumbnails are proportional)” under Settings > Media.

Thanks for replying. I am in edit media and editing an image thats not showing how i would like. Theres doesnt appear to be a checkbox for “crop thumbnail to exact dimensions” just three options under “apply to all images” – “all image sizes” “Thumbnail” or “all sizes except thumbnail”

There is also a group of “crop” or “aspect ratio” options which looks a bit complicated… its offering me an opportunity to enter different aspact sizes like 1;1 , 4;3 or 19;9..

    Can you help..?
    thanks

OK I found the check box in media settings and have unchecked it and updated settings. Will that edit the gallery contents on mass or will i need to do something else per image? The images as far as i can tell are still the same on the page, cropped versions of the full size image..
    thanks

Not Edit > Media but Settings > Media

Ok thanks. Do you think i need to upload everything again to get these settings to update? just updated settings and nothing has changed on the gallery pages…
    thanks again..

try uploading a new image and see if it works the way you want. If it does you can use a plugin as this: http://ww.wp.xz.cn/extend/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/

But first see if it works as you want when you upload an image

Yeah the same problem. Ill take a look at the plug in. Any danger of the plug in casuing me issues with gallery settings in general or is it easy to integrate..?

    Once again thanks..

If it’s not working when uploading and inserting a new image it’s of no use to let the plugin regenarate all thumbnails. Can you give us a screenshot of what is happening to your thumbnails. What theme are you using? Can we have a link to a page with these thumbnails if possible?

Yeah i have a screen shot saved i could send but the site is still on temp server while i upload the content.

Can i insert an image on here via a IMG Code from a host like photobucket or is an email attachment easier.#
    Thanks

try an image host as: http://tinypic.com/ or http://imageshack.us/
or give us link to the photobucket image.

Hi, i think this should let you see the screenshots

    1) the gallery page
    2) lightbox settings
    3) HTML Gallery code
    4) Gallery upload window
