Hey,
Is the post summmary set to excerpt in both your posts? Have you created a custom excerpt for either or both?
Hannah
Hey Hannah,
Both posts have custom excerpts. Not sure where to look to see if the post summary is set to excerpt though…
Laura
Are you using an SEO plugin such as YOAST? That would allow you to set meta titles and descriptions for each of your posts.

Hannah
Yes, I use Yoast and the trouble is that I HAVE set an SEO title and meta description for both posts. Yet Pinterest displays the whole post instead of just a short excerpt.
Laura
What method are you using in converting your pins to posts?
Hannah
Either the Pinterest save button extension for Chrome or the Social Warfare plugin.
Laura
Hi Hannah,
I’ve got an idea. I believe the itemprop=”description articleBody” should be itemprop=”description” without the ‘articleBody’. Right now the text displayed in the structured data tool (https://search.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool/u/0/#url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bylauraiancu.com%2Fdeclutter-organize-blog-design) is the same for both description and articleBody, which doesn’t make much sense to me. The description should be, obviouly, shorter.
I might be wrong, but I though it was better to say it in case it saves you time.
Laura
Hey Laura,
I have some other schema updates coming out soon, I’ll add this to the list.
Ben
Thanks, Ben. Is there anything I can do about this in the meantime? Pinning anything from my blog makes me cringe because the whole article gets published on Pinterest. I use affiliate links, but obviously, Pinterest strips away the links and I fear people only read the long description/whole article on Pinterest without clicking through to my blog and I’m losing money.
Thanks!
Thank you SO much, Ben! Works like a charm!
