Pingbacks from Forums

I am just wondering, Why I don’t get pingback notification from Forums.
For example, when somebody leaves a link to a blog post of mine on “wordpress.stackexchange.com” or “support.presswork.me/discussion/” or
even this support forum, I do not get a notification on my Blog.
Is this by design?
I do get pingabks from ‘nofollow’ blogs but not forums.
Also I do have the “Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks” checked in the dashboard.

Pingbacks are specific to blogs & forums aren’t blogs.

Is there any way you can be notified from forums? any technology similar to pingbacks specific to forums?

Not that works across all forums, no. Try looking for rss feeds or email subscription links.

1. Does the other Blog have to be a WordPress Blog?
2. Do you also get pingbacks from the Comments textarea or just from posts or pages?
