Platform theme header/leaf/social networking issues

    Hi there,

    I’m a bit of a novice to wordpress (and websites generally) and I’m trying to figure out how to do three things with the free Platform theme by Pagelines. If anyone can redirect me or has step by step instructions then that would be much appreciated. I’ve managed to figure out that I need to create a child theme (I think) in my htdocs for some of these issues but the instructions that I have found are really complex and I need a ‘Dummies guide to editing wordpress themes’ so if anyone could help I’d be very grateful. I really can’t figure out how to:

    1) delete the leaf in the footer of the theme
    2) make the header of the theme wider
    3) find a good plug in to have social networking icons (not follow me buttons) and to then use those as a widget

    1. Copy the footer.php file into your child theme and edit it.

    2. Edit your child’s stylesheet and adjust the header width.

    Hi sorry to as stupid questions but I don’t see anything in the header.php file that would indicate making it bigger…am I doing something really wrong? Here is the file below.
