    Does mb.miniAudioPlayer collect stats? If not, is there some other way to gain reliable numbers on plays, etc.?

    Yes,
    Statistics are collected on your Google Analytics account on the Events section. You’ll find an Audio event with all the statistic for each of your players instance. Show The audio by labels.
