Hi, you can use this plugin for reCaptcha:
https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/invisible-recaptcha/
It works flawlessly, and CF7 is supported, just enter API keys, activate CF7 integration and done.
P.S.
I know this is not the answers you (all with similar issues) are looking for, but it’s a solid workaround, at least temporarily.

There is no integration instructions – how do you get it to work with a contact 7 form after installing and activating?
Do we have to add some sort of shortcode?

presumably the old [recaptcha] shortcode is not appropriate wiht this plugin
It’s fully auto-magical 🙂
There aren’t any short codes, javascript in the plugin takes all the work for your forms. You can have multiple captchas on the same page.
Just visit Admin Dashboard > Settings > Invisible reCaptcha and there tick appropriate check-boxes and you are done! Clear cache if you use caching plugins, and remove API Keys from CF7 to avoid conflicts.
If you scroll down the intro page you have some manual examples:

Thanks for the quick response.
It appears we need to add the google keys – do we add V2 or V3
v2 only
this plugin does not support v3 yet
For the original [recaptcha] tag and reCAPTCHA v2 support, check this out:
Contact Form 7 – reCaptcha v2
You can still use the latest release of CF7 with it!
