Fixed! (was Please bring back original bookmarklet functionality)
-
Update: With the version 1.1.1 update, the bookmarklet now works. I’ve tested it in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari, and it seems to work just fine now.
I use the “Press This” functionality for most of my blog posts.
When I upgraded my blog to 4.9 I was shocked that the bookmarklet no longer worked.
This morning I tried to use the “Press This” bookmark I had stored in my bookmarks bar and it kept bringing me to my Admin page, which was not at all what I wanted.
I was able to find a workaround through searching in the support forum, that had me create a bookmarklet and then update a PHP file. Thank you @robbyslaughter!
I’ve been blogging for almost 3 years and haven’t had to dig into PHP. This would really give newbies a sour taste of WordPress. WordPress is supposed to be easy to use, but IMO, editing PHP is quite daunting and definitely not for newbies.
