Please help Author page (author.php)

I have a WordPress Blog themes with permalink like this :http://abc.com/author/%5Busername%5D
Now I want to compact this link like this : http://abc.com/%5Busername%5D. Remove slug “/author”
Any ideas can resolve this. please help
