    Hello Thomas,

A long time user of your plugin, thank you for creating and maintaining this lovely plugin. I recently updated from 6.0.5 to the latest version and started noticing a layout shift.

Here is what is happening, please observe the Email Newsletter box in the sidebar – https://jmp.sh/3ellMfWm

Not sure if it was there before, a min-height is added and that is what is throwing off the layout I think – https://jmp.sh/JiLBkDh8

    – Using the latest version of WordPress (6.1.1) and Fixed Widget plugin (6.2.1)
    – Tried using Improved Version from General Settings.
    – I have read – https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/please-read-before-posting-after-update-to-6-0-0/

Any advice on what I can do to fix it is greatly appreciated. Thank you and keep up the good work πŸ™‚

p.s: I am marking this thread as not a support question since I am only looking for suggestions if you have any before I go down the rabbit hole myself. Making every theme compatible is a herculean task and I totally understand if you do not have a solution. Thank you.

  • Hi There, we are having similar issues.

I observed some issues in versions 6.2.0 and 6.2.1, where the selected fixed widget element covers partially the content (6.2.0) or goes very close to it ignoring the sidebar padding or margins (6.2.1).

AFAIK we are not aware of such changes since version 6.0 (and I was not aware that the plugin got rewritten, if there was some notification from the plugin in the dashboard I missed it).

This happens in last versions of Safari and DuckDuckGo. I did not observer this behavior in Chrome or Firefox. Always deleting cache in server and using private browsing.

After activating and DEACTIVATING the “Improved version” (Appearance > Fixed Widget) the issue seems to have disappeared.

We will keep a close eye to it.

    Hope it helps!

    Hi,

please test version 6.2.2 and let me know if that helped.

@mixali, if you still experience issues after the update, please open a new thread.

    Hello Thomas,

Thanks for the update. Sorry for the late reply, I wasn’t subscribed to the thread.

I tried 6.2.2, however the issue still persists as you can see here – https://millionclues.com/entrepreneurship/screwdriver-analogy/

    – This is my settings page: https://jmp.sh/5BkngYfL
    – Also tested without improved script.
    – Tested on Chrome 107.0.5304.122 (latest as of today)

Thanks again for taking a look. If there is something I can change in the theme’s style, please let me know as well.

    Hi Arun,

thanks for the details. This behavior is almost appealing and should be a feature πŸ˜‰

I think we got the fix. Please try out the dev version and let me know.

    Thanks,
    Thomas

Hello Thomas, I agree, it might improve signups πŸ˜‰

I have the dev version on these, it has a strange behaviour – https://jmp.sh/QbdrfunW

    – Each time I scroll up the min-height keeps on adding up.
    – You can see it for yourself here – https://millionclues.com/entrepreneurship/screwdriver-analogy/

Thanks again for your support. This is impressive. I appreciate it.

    Hello again Thomas, good morning.

    That fixed it – https://millionclues.com/entrepreneurship/refund-is-the-least-you-can-do/

Really impressive support. I have left a review but it’s pending moderation for some reason.

I have been using the plugin for the last many years and never had any issue across updates. That’s super hard for a front end plugin, great work.

Thank you so much for you time and effort kind sir! πŸ™Œ

Thanks Thomas for the excellent and fast support!
I updated the plugin to 6.2.2 and I see no issues in any browser.
    All the best,
