• I installed the wp-dbmanager to help me with backing up my site. Everything went fine except right away the following error message appeared on my wp admin page: “Your backup folder MIGHT be visible to the public…To correct this issue, move the .htaccess file from wp-content/plugins/wp-dbmanager to /home/earthgrl/public_html/wp-content/backup-db

So I went and found that file and clicked ‘move’ and this other little window appeared and in the destination I copied and pasted the /home/earthgrl/public_html/wp-content/backup-db …script? (sorry don’t know what this is called.) and thought I moved it correctly, but this error message is still there in red on the top of my wp-admin pages. What can I do to fix this?

  • It might be that the file you moved was named ‘htaccess.txt’. If so, rename it to ‘.htaccess’.

Thank you. I tried that now. I renamed it like you said and now the warning says: Your backup folder MIGHT be visible to the public

To correct this issue, move the .htaccess file from wp-content/plugins/wp-dbmanager to /home/earthgrl/public_html/wp-content/backup-db

It’s exactly in that directory, renamed like you said. I don’t understand why the warning is still there???

Make sure the original file is not still in the wp-content/plugins/wp-dbmanager folder. If it is, delete it.
