PLEASE help with layout n stuff – please?

    OK, I typed all this once and lost it so here goes again………

    I am using WP 2.6 and a few plugins / addons.

    I have a soccer website and am setting up a free area for Members Only.

    I want members to have access to various pages, but NOT the dashboard or the “users online” plugin (other than just seeing how many are online).

    My members area will consist of all the Soccer Pitches in the UK (and Europe) and details of all the Soccer Teams.

    I have set-up my right sidebar with the following:-

    Navigation
    – Return to Main HomePage
    – Link to External Forum
    – Any other URL to be added

    Soccer Pitches
    – UK
    – England
    – County 1
    – County 2
    – County 3
    – County 4
    – …and so on with the other counties
    – Scotland
    – County 1
    – County 2
    – County 3
    – County 4
    – …and so on with the other counties
    – Wales
    – County 1
    – County 2
    – County 3
    – County 4
    – …and so on with the other counties
    – Northern Ireland
    – County 1
    – County 2
    – County 3
    – County 4
    – …and so on with the other counties
    – Other Countries
    – Ireland
    – France
    – and so on…

    Soccer Teams
    – Team 1
    – Team 2
    – Team 3
    – and so on…

    Users Online (but not clickable by normal subscribers to read full info)

    I want a member to click on a County and then get all of the soccer pitches shown for that County – with a map photo and some key stats.

    If they then click on a particular Pitch, they will get a new page with lots of info.

    The same goes for the Soccer Teams.

    Now, I have set-up my side-bar as categories (UK, England, County 1, County 2, etc etc) – is that the best way to do this?

    Is there an addon for getting a template for each Pitch and Team so that the info is presented in a uniform manner.

    Can anyone give help on how best to set this up please.

    Should each Soccer Pitch be a New Page or a Post within a page ?

    You can make different page templates or different headers which are called up when some visitor of your website goes to some particular site of yours. For example if someone goes to “Soccer pitches > UK”, WordPress can call some particular header or page template which is different than basic template.

    You can do it with Conditional Tags: http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Conditional_Tags

    Of course you still have to update all those templates all the time since they are holding everchanging info inside. Maybe the simplest way updating those headers or page templates would be inserting an image holding the crucial info to the template and then you could just update the info in that image with Photoshop or some similar software and upload the image over the old one everytime you needed to update the info.

    This is just an idea. There may be some better solution.

    I’m not sure is it possible to have a post within the page since the posts use the index.php and pages uses the page.php. I’m not an expert but it maybe difficult to do that. But with conditional tags you can do all sorts of things. They are quite easy to use.
