• Great plugin but Yoast really likes annoying people with their ads.

I had to add a fake email address to stop that annoying notice to show up again.

    Hi @mhogas,
there is no obligation atg all to subscribe to the newsletter, the notice can be dismissed anyway just by clicking on the “X” icon on the top right corner of the box, just like any other notification.
Once that you have clicked on that icon, the notice won’t show up again.
I wan to state that no checks are made on whether the form was used to subscribe.

Should you encounter any issue in dismissing (it can happen if other plugins or themes raise errors preventing the dismissal via AJAX call) you can always disable the notification by visiting SettingsDuplicate Post, third tab Display, then removing the tick in the last checkbox and saving the options.

If you experience any different behaviour from what’s been described above, can you please file a bug report telling us which other plugins are installed, what theme you are using, and the exact step to reproduce the issue?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for your reply Enrico!

Strange, i dismissed it and refreshed for probably 3 times but the banner was still there and after i added a fake address it stopped showing. That happened while in WP Multisite Network > Plugins, but not sure it’s related.

Out of respect for your work, i’m changing my rating.

Also, i genuinely don’t think subscribers are won this way, but i’m no marketer, i just find it bad UX. Notices are the most annoying part of WP and they have been abused too much.

    Cheers!

Thank you @mhogas for sharing your view and for your new vote.
We are looking for better ways to keep people updated about what’s been included in a new version of the plugin.
The latest version, out just now, shows the update notice only on selected screens and only if you are upgrading from a version earlier than the first by Yoast (we kept notifying in this case because we think that people might want to be informed explicitly about the renaming and rebranding of the plugin).

I hope you’ll like the new feature and improvements that we are planning for the near future!
    Thank you once more

Thanks I had the same problem that I could not get rid of that banner even after signing up. Thanks for telling us about the settings tab.
