[Plugin: BackUpWordPress] Only database will backup, files will not

    BackupWordPress only seems to be able to back up the database, and not the files. I requested help from GoDaddy as it seems that the backup is timing out due to the site being a bit slow. Here is their response:

    “Our Web Hosting accounts are not designed to support scripts that run for lengthy amounts of time(typically more than 2 minutes). I recommend that you review the documentation provided for the plug-in, as there may be modifications you can make to your php5.ini file to allow the script to perform better.”

    The plan this site is hosted with is using shared Linux hosting. WP-Content is 51.6MB… pretty tiny to be timing out. When I try to backup the files in any way, it just stays on ‘creating zip archive [cance]’ indefinitely.

    I’d recommend excluding some files to see if you can get under the time limit.

    If I just exclude files in order to get under the time limit, though, how will that help me with getting everything backed up? I’m a bit confused.

    It’s certainly not idea, but if your server doesn’t support scripts running for longer than 2 minutes then there isn’t much I could do about it.

    Do you have access to your sites error logs? You could look at those to confirm the exact error message that is causing the backups to stop working.

    I’m not sure… where would I look to find out if I have access to error logs? The hosting provider somewhere I’m assuming?

    If you ask GoDaddy support they should be able to provide you with your PHP error logs.
