Notwithstanding David’s circumstances (which we should all respect), I thought it worth posting here so others might find the source of this problem more quickly than I did.

When you upgrade from WordPress 6.5 to 6.6, if this plugin is active, your Google Fonts will no longer work. The fonts you have installed will not be available and you will get an error if you try to install any.

Disabling the plugin will restore the ability to install and use fonts, though it will not bring back the ones you had previously installed.

Thanks for your report and your considerate comments regarding my circumstances. I will have some time coming up to investigate this further.

I have not used Google fonts and would like more details to help me reproduce the problem. Can you post the steps required to get and install the fonts? Thanks for any additional information you can provide, and for your interest in the plugin.

It has been six weeks since my last post in this topic. Without more information that will enable me to reproduce your problem I can’t be of much help.

I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if you are still having problems and can provide more information for my investigation. Thanks for your understanding.

I have been able to find and fix an MLA defect related to Google Font installation, as detailed in this recent MLA support topic:

    Font uploads in FSE

I have uploaded a new MLA Development Version dated 20250216 that corrects the problem. You can find step-by-step instructions for using the Development Version in this earlier topic:

How to download & install the current development version of MLA

Once the Development Version is installed you can retest the installation of Google Fonts in the Full Site Editor.

The fix will be part of my next MLA version, but in the interim it would be great if you could install the Development Version and let me know if it works for you. Thanks for alerting me to this MLA defect.
