I am interested in this functionality as well.
I’m currently using Buddypress 1.6.1 with a separate bbPress 2.1.2 plugin (for site-wide forums).
The users are able to subscribe to individual forum topics and receive notifications whenever there’s a new reply. But they receive no notifications when a new topic is posted to a group forum that they are a member of.
I would also love this to be a reality

bbPress should work in BuddyPress group forums.
However, it doesn’t support bbPress forums that are not attached to a BuddyPress group. Hence the name of the plugin.
If you want email subscriptions for non-BuddyPress forums, you might want to use a bbPress plugin for this instead:

Ray the group forums are not functioning for me is there something that needs to be done to make the group forums get included?

I was expecting something like admin can set a email-notification for himself for every forum post.
I’ve BP 1.7 running with bbPress 2.3, the Group Email Subscription for bbPress group forums work – but there is only the forum wide option, but no follow/mute for single topics. The bbPress own subscription function for each topic is disabled by BP Group Email Subscription.
Is it ment by this or is there maybe a hook to include the follow/mute again? If not, why the bbPress subscription is disabled?
