Cannot activate the latest version of the plugin on my site.

    Receiving this message:

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /homepages/5/d417654836/htdocs/eventu/wp-content/plugins/svg-support/functions/thumbnail-display.php on line 15

    Any idea why?

    Thanks

Sorry for the delay! I am looking into it today.
In the meantime, if you haven’t already, simply delete the 2.2 version via ftp and upload the 2.1.7 version downloadable here: https://downloads.wp.xz.cn/plugin/svg-support.2.1.7.zip

    Thanks for your patience!

    Hello,

I think it was due to the version of PHP your server is running and the use of an anonymous function.
I have changed the function in the dev version of the plugin and would love for you to test it for me as I do not have any older PHP versions to test on.
The dev release is here: https://downloads.wp.xz.cn/plugin/svg-support.zip

    Thank you kindly.

    Benbodhi,

I have faced the same issue as theredeyedronin. I loaded both plugin versions and they each had their own set of problems. The 2.1.7 version activated, but displayed the svg files as broken links on the page. The dev release did not activate at all and gave the same fatal error as in the 2.2 version.

    I hope this information helps.

    Hi artvarkcreative,

    Thanks for the report.
Have you tried updating to the latest stable release (2.2.1)?

If updating to 2.2.1 still throws an error, can you please copy & paste the error here for me so I can actually see what it is throwing the error?

It’s hard for me to help without that info.
I manage updates on a huge number of sites, all of which have not had this issue across multiple hosts and servers so I cannot reproduce it to test.

I’m happy to help any way I can though… Possibly create a staging site in a subdomain and allow me temporary admin access to the staging site so I can test in your specific environment?

There was a further anonymous function… which has also been updated in 2.2.2
I would love to hear back if this version is working for you!

    Cheers
    Ben
