We’ve been using this plugin successfully for a few years now, but just lately, we’re seeing it causing random 404 errors on images. Our hosting tech support said it was due to .htaccess rules inserted by the plugin ‘routing static images through the PHP engine and overloading the server’. This has happened on a few different hosting servers, all LAMP stacks running cPanel.

    I’d appreciate any guidance

    Thanks

    Dave

    Hi Dave,

We’ve been using this plugin successfully for a few years now, but just lately, we’re seeing it causing random 404 errors on images.

Are these sites hosted in the same server or different servers? Do you know if these servers have been updated and or changes made to them lately? The reason why I am asking, is because the plugin has been working fine for a couple of years and all of a sudden it started causing this issue.

Also, do you know what rule was entered in the .htaccess file by our plugin? This would help me know which feature is causing this issue.

However if you can’t remember the rule, try the following step. Deactivate all Firewall rules. Then carry out a test.

Let me know how you go.

    Thank you
