Plugin closed for security issue

    Hi,

    I was using a plugin and one day I found this message:

    This plugin has been closed as of MM DD, YYYY and is not available for download. Reason: Security Issue.

    Can you please tell me who takes this decision, WordPress team or plugin founder?

    I want to make some auditing and check if the plugin was malicious by design or just removed because not maintained any longer.

    Hello Devmania,

    If the reason for the close is Security Issue then it might temporary down by the WordPress team.

    If the plugin isn’t updated for a long day or no more downloads in that case it might be possible that the plugin author is removed from the list.

    “Malicious by design”? Almost certainly not. A coding error that left a hole? Maybe. The message indicates that the plugins team is waiting for a fix.
