[Plugin: Comprehensive Google Map Plugin] Access map's markers (from KML map)

I hacked the plugin JS to get the instance of the map object as a global variable so I can change the center and zoom from my custom JS (using my own search feature). The map’s markers are coming from a KML file. Is there anyway to access the markers? I want to send the click event to open up a particular marker’s overlay.
