I’m in the process of migrating 65 client websites over to GA4 from Universal Analytics using the Google Site Kit plugin. For most of them the plugin has installed just fine with no issues, but for one site’s setup I’m running into an issue where the buttons don’t redirect me to my Google account for verification. First, it was the “Sign in with Google” button that didn’t work. I was able to get around it by opening the button’s link in a new tab, but I’ve run into the same issue again when connecting Google Analytics. When I click “Configure Analytics”, it brings up a pop-up called “Additional Permissions Required”, and when I click proceed nothing happens. There is no option to open the link in a new tab, so I’m stuck. I typically have the plugin create the new GA4 property, but I’ve also tried creating the property myself in GA and trying to connect to it in the plugin with no different results. I’ve also tried in another browser and I’m having the same issue. I’m confused because I can still use this same process for other websites without a problem. Is this an issue anyone else has had? Is there a workaround for this?

Hi @benjaminaccent thanks for getting in touch and your detailed explanation of the issue you are facing. To help you further with this please could you share the following:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
    2. Do you see any browser console errors while going through the steps you take?
    3. After you manually created the GA4 property were you able to select it in the plugin before getting to the same issue again or was it not available to select?

If possible also it would be very helpful if you could provide a screen recording of your experience to help better understand what’s happening here. You can use a service such as Loom to do this and share the URL here.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    1. I completed the form
    2. There are no errors that I’m aware of
    3. I could select the property, I just ran into the same problem as before

@benjaminaccent thank you for providing the information here. It’s possible that there is a plugin or theme conflict here that could be causing this to happen. Would you please be able to run through our troubleshooting guide which will highlight any any conflict if there is one and let me know how you get on with this.

If you can’t identify a conflict we can then continue to troubleshoot this issue. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks for your help @adamdunnage, I ended up solving the problem by deactivating all other existing plugins temporarily.

@benjaminaccent Glad to hear this! Could I please ask which plugin was causing the conflict in this case?

@adamdunnage The problem plugin was the Make Paths Relative plugin by YAS Global, which I guess was interrupting the redirection to Google’s verification in some way. Once I was able to set Site Kit up properly, I reactivated the plugin and everything functions as expected.
