• I recently noticed that when I try to view plugin details in the admin area of my WP install, the modal window is just blank.

This is a multi-site setup and it’s when I’m in my Network admin. I search for a plugin, click the ‘details’ link next to a plugin I might want to install. Then a modal window opens up that normally would have all the plugin details, but instead I just get a blank window.

I tried re-uploading all my WordPress core files just in case something had gotten corrupted somehow. But that didn’t fix it.

Not sure if it is related, but when installing updates I don’t get a confirmation message upon completion. I just get a blank window. The update seems to install. I just don’t get the confirmation message.

Any idea where to start looking for the problem?

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating via FTP or SFTP or whatever file management application your host provides. If applicible, also remember to deactivate any plugins in the mu-plugins folder. The easiest way is to rename that folder to mu-plugins-old.

    – To rule out any theme-specific issue, try switching to the unedited WP default Twenty Twelve theme for a moment using the WP dashboard. If you don’t have access to your admin area, you can switch to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using via FTP or SFTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    I’m not following you.

    Deactivate what via FTP?

And I don’t think WPMU has a theme for the Network site (which is where I’m having this problem). Are you suggesting I switch all my sub-sites themes to default?

@vfhwebdev, you’re sure the plugins are being updated? My first guess is a permissions issue of some kind. Maybe your host put in restrictions and your WP instance can’t connect to the repo.

Yes the plugins are being updated. So I’m connecting to the plugin repository. Any other ideas?
