plugin dev issue simple

I have developed a few plugins for single use and I noticed a problem. I’m guessing its an obvious, but the obvious is something I tend to miss.
When I put text in the page that has the short code for my plugin it always shows up below the plugin area. Is there something i’m missing or is there a method that i’m not using to make the text above the short code display above it?
