I noticed that users with “Author” role, can view Post Thumbnail Editor links, but it will not work for them. Thus, these links are useless. If I assign edit_others_posts capability to authors, it will work, but then they will be able to change other posts too, but it’s pointless for the role of authors (key difference between an author and an editor).

I want that authors can use Post Thumbnail Editor, but without the ability to change other people’s posts. Is it possible?

You can give a user the ‘pte-edit’ capability and they should have the ability to actually change the thumbnails. (Currently it checks for either ‘edit_post’ or ‘pte-edit’). But, you’re right about creating the links for posts where the user doesn’t have permission, I’ll take a look at that and see what I need to do.

    pte-edit helped. Thanks!
