Also the Facebook plugin is making my like button on my site disappear for posts that have been posted to Facebook.
I am using the Facbook version 1.3 plugin from Github because I heard it fixes the issue. NOT
For clarity I am using latest WP with Genesis Framwork, Going Green Theme and http://ww.wp.xz.cn/extend/plugins/facebook/ version 1.0.2.
All that apart, the doubling of content is identical.

You CAN edit your fb-social-publisher.php file to not put in html tags from your content, but it’s still Double-Posting the description…

it must be a duplicate-something in how it’s fetching and posting the data.

i got a parse error

i then replace the old code and now that doesnt work either, guess im gonna have to remove the whole thing and reinstall, this app seems more trouble than its worth!!
@johnty … could not agree more … until FB developers sort this out I have gone back to Facebook Page Publish. I prefer the options and appearance of FB but not the lack of support!!!
I have noticed that a very long excerpt in the ‘facebook status in facebook timeline’ sometimes fixes the issue. The meta description and og description are both identical and come from excerpt. But if that is not long enough to fill the entire box, the second line is picked up from content itself.
I guess that is what the problem is. If i have provided a hand crafted summary, no matter how short, the plugin should not be picking additional info from content itself.

Bad thing it is not fixed yet…
Facebook version 1.2.3 sorted all issues for me using WP3.5.1. I changed nothing else apart from upgrading to the latest version, no double posts, no spurious html characters any more. Try the obvious and shut down other plugins and see in FB then works.
