[Plugin: Duplicator] database hose name???

Ok, I’m sure this is a stupid question, but I’ve combed every seemingly relevant post and no one else is asking this.
In the video and screen shots on the second half of the installer screen it asks for “Host” and then “Name” etc. In the screenshots the Host name is: localhost … ok, fine if you’re running on your local computer, but I am trying to install on a new server hosted on the web. I have tried everything from the full URL to every variation on a them I can think of but I keep getting an error message that says “Database Connection failed! Unknown MySQL server host ‘whatever I typed in here’

I am just learning this stuff so this is not clear to me at all what the heck it is looking for. Can someone please point me in the right direction and perhaps shoot me a screenshot of an example that works?

I am hosting with Dreamhost, running 3.3.1 WP and PHP 5.latest version with zip archive.
