This seems like an obvious question but I haven’t found a definitive answer. For now, I want to do all updates manually so I have used the “override everything” setting and set it to disabled. This obviously should stop all automatic updates of the core, plugins, themes, and everything else, correct? But does it have any impact on the *notifications* that appear in my dashboard or admin top banner to tell me about the availability of updates of any kind? I definitely still want to be receiving them. Thanks for any clarification on this.

If you want to be able to manually update everything then just turn all the settings under automatic updates to disabled. This will not affect the notifications for updates.

You definitely don’t want to “override everything” because that will disable all updates, including hiding admin notices.

If you are in the plugin’s dashboard, set automatic updates for Major, Minor, Development, and Translation updates to off. Also set automatic updates for Automatic Plugin Updates and Automatic Theme Updates to disabled.

Got it. Thanks all! It might be worth emphasizing in the FAQ that even notifications are killed by the “override everything” setting. Great plugin, thanks again for the work!

We will consider adding that in to the FAQ/Wiki.

Also, if you wouldn’t mind leaving a review for our plugin that would be awesome.
