[Plugin: Facebook] Comments managed by theme disappear with FB comment feature

I am using theme Twenty Eleven by the WP team. When I enable the FB comments on my blog via the Facebook plugin “comments” option, all the comments that were there prior to implementing the FB plugin have disappeared from my site. Is it possible for them to coexist?
